HE Saeed Abdullah bin Mutlaq Al Ghafli, Director of the Emirates ID Authority, said that the launch of Emirates Food Bank by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, instead of celebration of his installation as a ruler of Dubai reflects high humanitarian sense and generous personality that is naturally disposed to giving, nobleness, originality and pure intuition.
This initiative comes to open the door for the year of philanthropy and confirm continuity of the philanthropic approach adopted by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in terms of relief and aid for disaster victims and all the needy. This approach is strictly followed by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the UAE citizens who have embraced this approach, causing the generosity and giving to be natural and typical traits of this country and its people. These traits have rather become associated with the Emirati people in the minds of people around the globe.
In addition to the humanitarian aspect, the initiative has religious meanings and signs, said Dr. Al Ghafli. It conforms to Allah saying "Serve the food they love to the poor the orphan and the captured" and the Prophet's tradition stating "The best amongst you is the person who provide people with food", he said. The initiative also establishes the Arab generosity and authenticity that has been typical of the Emirati people and passed from one generation to another. Giving has become a daily practice and an essential part of the Emiratis' life, he said.
This initiative comes to add a new step to the journey of philanthropy started with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum since his installation as a ruler of Dubai via initiatives that seek to reduce the impact of poverty and the need on the poorer people regardless of religion, race or color. The UAE quenches the children thirst, covers their bodies and treats their ailments, bringing joy and happiness to the hearts of orphans and the underprivileged people at unattended sites. The UAE opens a new page in the book of humanity-oriented achievements.
