The Emirates Identity Authority has won the Golden Award for “Best Use of Social Media Measurement” and the Silver Award for “Best use of Communication Management: Public Sector” by the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC).
EMIRATES ID’s winning of the two prestigious awards was announced during a ceremony held by AMEC in the Spanish Capital, Madrid on Thursday, June 6th 2013. The event was part of the activities of the EU Summit. Organizations from 12 countries across the world participated in the competition.
Mr. Amer Al Mahri, Director of Government and Social Communications at Emirates ID, said that the two awards reflected the Authority’s constant efforts to enhance its performance and improve the level of its services to ensure customer satisfaction through social media channels such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, through its strategic partnership with Social Eyez specialized in the management of the means of social communication
Al Mahri added that these two awards affirm Emirates ID's keenness to take advantage of the features of new media and benefit from social media channels in supporting its vision and strategic objectives and in spreading awareness of its services and procedures in addition to responding to customers’ queries and complaints.
Al Mahri stressed that Emirates ID had made tangible achievements in communicating with its customers through its pages on social media sites, where it provides instant responses to their queries and complaints related to issuance of ID cards; a matter that enhanced the cooperation of customers and urged them to communicate with the Authority through these channels.
He explained that Emirates ID’s keenness to enhance its communication channels with customers on social media sites came in line with its efforts to achieve one of its top strategic priorities- developing a service organization with international standards aiming at providing up-to-date services based on exceptional performance.
Al Mahri pointed out that EMIRATES ID would continue to improve its social networking pages to achieve a significant development of its e-services and enhance its communication with the public in line with the Government plan to provide all services through electronic channels. These efforts will lead to the embodiment of the “Smart Government” initiative where services will be offered through mobile phones.
Criteria for AMEC awards include factors such as clear measurable (SMART) objectives of the organization, achievement of the objectives by the PR team, impact of the program on the target audience, the link between the organization’s activities and its or its clients business or organizational goals and impact on business outcomes.
Entries were judged by an international panel of independent and highly qualified academics and media experts.
EMIRATES ID had officially launched its social media engagement service with its customers on Facebook and Twitter in June 2012.
The International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC) is the global trade body and professional institute for agencies and practitioners who provide media evaluation and communication research. It has more than 120 members in 41 countries across the globe.
AMEC aims at creating a networking forum aimed at exchanging information, knowledge and best practices. It also provides a number of commercial benefits for its members to help them maintain the highest professional standards.
